Church History
First Baptist Church Madisonville started on January 26, 1870 with 32 members as Madisonville Baptist Church until 1922 when “First Baptist was added. Our first building was occupied in 1877 and was located on South Main Street. It was rebuilt in 1912 and occupied until 1954 when our present building was ready. A long march was made down Main Street by the membership early on the Sunday Morning of February 6, 1955 for the dedication service.
Many things have changed over the years, but never the Gospel of Jesus Christ. First Baptist has been consistent to reach our community and the world through the Southern Baptist Convention Cooperative Program, International Missions Board, North American Mission Board as well as Special offerings for missions.
The two pictures below show the final service at the old sanctuary and one on the right is the dedication service on January 6, 1955.
